My advice is to call you service provider and tell him about them. They can actually block it by screening out the messages they are coming in with. You need to write down the EXACT message -- spelling, punctuation, capitalization and ALL. Then give that to them. But, NEVER open an attachment if you are not expecting it. If it is from a friend and you are not sure, save the message and write them back to see if it's OK. If it is not from someone you know DELETE immediately. Texas and was married in 1849 to a Sydney Odom--my James was born 17 May 1822-died 18 March 1889 and is buried in Lone Oak,Donnelton Cem.Texas if he was married before we don't know that!!! please email me at Rudybug@swbell.net
I also received 2 e-mail viruses from TOM. Although I belong to several lists I knew this was not a name or e-mail address that was familiar to me from any of them. If you have been on the lists for a while then you pretty much know the old hands connected to them. Also when I looked at the attachment name it had a double extension (IE...just_thought_i_could_help.doc.pif). I immediately deleted it without opening. By the way, it came through the Pike County List. ___________________________________________________________ Life is a grindstone; whether it grinds you down or polishes you up depends on what you're made of. - Jacob M. I sure would appreciate help from anyone on the Pike County List researching the Armstrong surname. Searching the list Archives, I could find quite a few Armstrong listings but none that I could tie to my line. My 2ggf was Larkin S. Armstrong, whose Creek Indian War Bounty Land Application indicates was living in Pike County in 1855. Pike County Judge Bird Fitzpatrick wrote several letters to help him get this bounty land. By 1860 Larkin had moved to back to Quitman County, Ga. The only Armstrong I can find in Pike County in 1850 was Hugh Armstrong; Larkin's father Ludwell Armstrong probably had a brother named Hugh Armstrong. His family was as follows: 1 Ludwell Armstrong b: Bef. 1775 in Probably South Carolina d: Abt. November 1825 in Pulaski County, Ga .. +Sarah b: Bef. 1775 d: Aft. 1832 in Probably Houston County, Georgia 2 Larkin S. Patsy, Anyone who has your email address in their address book, and has a virus that sends out from the address listings, can send you that virus. It can't come from rootsweb, or be passed through rootsweb, but can pass from one individual to another. I am not an expert in these things, but that is the way I understand it works.
