My grandfather was full blood Cherokee, He worked as a blacksmith and farmer. He married Minnie Nichols in 1920 in Arkansas. I was told he had a former marriage. Due to his darkness he could have been mistaken as mulatto. Do you have any pictures of your William Anderson? I have one picture of my William Anderson in a Spanish American War uniform and several others of later in life. His father was Cam Anderson, born Aug 1, 1849, and his mother was Eliza Anderson, born Oct. 30, 1859. William had four brothers: Tommy, Tall, Steve, and John. He also had some sisters but I am unsure of their names or exactly how many he did have.

I have not been able to find a death record for my William Anderson. Do you have any more details about yours? Could he have been married twice? I have run into a dead end with this research. My William Anderson does show up in the 1900 census for Bullock County, Union Springs, AL as b. Jan 1874, 26 years old, married 6 years, born AL, parents born AL, black, wife Lucy Anderson, son John W. Anderson, age 12. (I do not believe John W. was his son.) William is listed as "dark mulatto" in his Spanish War records, and I have copies of those. He is supposed to have died in 1908.
I saw your inquiry. My grandfather was William Anderson, born in the 1870s, who served in the Spanish American War. However, he died in the 1950's. I did have an uncle by the name of John Anderson, who lived in Phoenix
