Yes the family did live in Hacoda for a time. I don't have confirmation on Martha Simmons' father, but it is speculated that it is Daniel Simmons born about 1793 in North Carolina. The 1850 Pike County, Alabama Census is as follows: Daniel Simmons, 54, farmer; Elizabeth, 53; William, 16; Austin, 14; Martha, 12; P. R. Gray, 24; John Barnes, 16; Eliza Barnes, 22. Next door to this family: John Simmons, 34, farmer; Abigail, 32; James, 11; Ellender, 9; Daniel, 6; Eliza, 4; Martha, 2. I believe John is one of Daniel's sons. I don't know anything about Levi Simmons. Melissa

Where is Wade Adams buried? I found a Martha Ann Simmons who married Wade H. McAdams 4/18/1855 Pike Co. AL I am assuming that this is your line. Could Martha A. be a daughter of Levi Simmons and Mary?? (maiden name possibly Brown) A couple of Levi's sons seemed to have married in Pike Co then migrated to the Hacoda area. I don't have anything on Levi's daughters, but its possible :) I hope this is helpful! Tonia Porter

    2. Le Bateman
    3. THis is from Bill Peebles Le Le, I contacted Charlton Pingel and sent her the information I had about James Thomas Kelley and Amelia Louise Oates. She checked the 1870 census and found that they were listed next to her parents in Pike County, AL. I now have no doubt that they were in DeSoto Parish, LA in 1860, and in Cherokee County, TX in 1880. They apparently didn't remain in LA very long, because none of their children were born in LA. Since James was still living in 1870, he could not have been the J. Thomas Kelly who died in the Civil War. Since Amelia L. Kelley who is buried in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, Polk County, TX and Amelia Louise Oates were both born on the same date and both died on the same date, and the husband of both was named James T. Kelley, I feel that they must be the same person. I have attached an updated family group sheet with the names of their children from the three census records.
