Susie, I'm interestted in the Carroll line from Dale, Pike,Coffee and Covington Cos., Not only my great great grandfather Reuben but his brothers and sisters. Is this what you are covering in the book? Claudia Carroll Adams sksenn <[email protected]> wrote: The Southern Historical Press has two of my books and will be getting the 1860 to 1864 this summer. They have the 1855 to 1861 book and the news that concerns the people such as dead and wounded lists and letters from soldiers in the second volume 1860 to 1865. The first is $35 dollars and the second is $38.50 from them. However I still have a few of the second volume that I will sale for $30 plus $$ shipping. You can call them at 1-800-233-0152 and request a catalog. As for the 1860 - 1864 they will get it later this summer and have it published. For now I can self publish them for $30 plus $$ shipping. I have other books such as the 1830 and 1840 census which gives the head of the households name and all others by age and sex catagory. They also have the slaves included by age and sex. I also have the 1850 and 1860 slave schedules and the white 1866 State census for Pike County that lists how many soldiers died of sickness or were killed from each household. It lists the head of the household by name and all others by age and sex catagory. I also have marriages 1830 to 1867 and 1867 to 1900. Also an index to wills and estates. I have others but I will have to look and see what they are later. Susie ==== ALPIKE Mailing List ==== Share your Pike Co. I found him in the 1860 census in Montgomery Co., AL, and like you I found him in the 1870/1880 census records in Geneva Co., AL. I'm still trying to locate him in the 1850 census and have not yet attempted to verify the death information, other than he died after the 1880 census, and other family researchers have that he died in Coffee Co., AL. In addition, I received the text of a letter saying he relocated to the Coffee-Dale-Geneva Counties area of AL after the Civil War. Pending the location of a death or cemetery record, any of these counties is a possibility, especially if the county boundaries were changed during that time period. If you've been able to locate a record showing that he died in Geneva County, I'd love to have that information. Finding some of this info has been extremely hard, if not impossible for some of these folks.

Does anyone have any further information about John Strom. I believe his sister may have been Elizabeth Strom who was married to Stephen Terry. She was living near John Strom in 1850 Pike Co. census. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QU.2ADI/3870 Message Board Post: I'm descended from John M McKown (also spelled McCown, McEwen, and McCowan in censuses), who I think is this Sampson's brother. In the 1850 census, a widowed John and his children resided with Sampson and Martha in Montgomery Co, AL. I think there was also a brother James, but could have been some other relation. They all bought land in the same area (I think it's around where Montgomery, Bullock, and Pike meet) at the same times. I have had no luck whatsoever as to finding out who there parents are. In the censuses, it always says that John was born in SC, while with Sampson it varies between SC and AL. I haven't yet found James in a census. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
