Surnames: Stewart Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QU.2ADI/3920 Message Board Post: Mary Stewart is my GGGrandmother. She is not the Mary T Stewart from Barbour county AL. My Mary Stewart was on the 1850 Walton county FL federal census married to Joseph Steele and noted in the Ebenezer Baptist Church records for the remainder of her life. Mary's oldest daughter was named Elizabeth and son was named William. Joseph died about 1896 and Mary lived with her oldest son and daughter, in this same area which became a part of the new Okaloosa county about the time of her death in the 1910's. There was a William and Elizabeth Stewart showing three sons, James (21) ,Daniel (17), Norman (13), still at home only fifteen households away from Joseph and Mary on the 1850 federal census, and the only other Stewarts in Northwest Walton county. The older William and Elizabeth show up on the 1860 federal census a few miles to the North in Covington county AL next door to Daniel Stewart, but after that disappear. I am looking for any evidence that William and Elizabeth are in ! fact Mary's parents, also any of their other descendants. I have found other Stewarts in Santa Rosa county to the West, but can't tie them to Mary or William and Elizabeth. I am suspecting at least three different Stewart lines represented in Southeast AL and West FL between 1830-1910, and that's not counting the Stewarts in the Rose Hill area in North Covington county or in the Eucheanna area of Walton county. Joseph and Mary and their children Elizabeth and William are buried at the Ebenezer Cemetery in North Okaloosa county.

Far rite at pump is my dad Ralph Martin, center is Hinton Boutwell, Jack Fryer in back leaning on oil rack. Don't know any of the others. The garage in the background between Quaker State & Goodyear signs has an interesting story. In the early 90's Gibson Clower, Attorney, was settling the Edge estate. He & my dad went to this garage & had to have a huge tree cut down that had grown in front of the door. After they were able to open the door they found an old Dodge that belonged to Dr. Oscar Edge. Don't know the year but it had the old wooden spokes on the wheels so it had to be from the 20's. I never did hear what happened to the car but sure someone got a few coins. Take care, Mack Additional Comments: Thanks Mack for sharing File at: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/al/pike/photos/troyserv3844gph.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/alfiles/ File size: 1.5 Kb

There are two ultimate goals for my research: (1) Collect as much information as possible about Lamar to write Lamar's life story and (2) Locate Lamar's family (there has been some discussion to honor Army Paymasters and Finance Corps soldiers who died while serving their country during the Finance Corps Regimental Week and Banquet in May 2007). Any information collected will be part of a book I'm putting together for the Finance Corps and added to my web site (www.military-heroes.com). The Finance Corps would like to know more about their heroes instead of just a name and date of death. THANKS!! Richard
