    3. I thought it might be. I do not know where they got married but I know that he and parents are buried at Center Ridge Cemetery. I wrote a book on the John Allen book which is Ida's father and that is where my info comes from. According to his will Ida and husband were living in Fl. at the time he died in 1891. She was one of 16 children by 2 wives which I searched all that I could and placed in the book. These Allen's still have an annual reunion or they did up to last year and I guess they will continue. I have since done a book on Jihn's mother and his brothers and sisters. Where do you live? 3. The 1st book, I named it News at home and across but Southern Historical renamed it Newspaper Abstracts from Pike Co., Al. 1855 - 1861. The next one I named Pike County Civil War News and they renamed it Newspaper Abstracts from Pike Co., Al. 1860 - 1865 (The Civil War Years). The third is Pike Co., Al. News 1860 - 1864 but I am sure they will rename it. 1. Re: [ALPIKE] Stokes and Brooks Family in Troy, Pike Co. Alabama
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Brooks, Stokes, Pulliam, Hodges Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QU.2ADI/3269.1.2.2 Message Board Post: This message was posted several years ago-have you made progress with your family? We have resorted to DNA testing and have gotten agressive with the research. Did you find any research on your Brooks and Stokes connections? We have some Stokes mixed in with our Brooks but have not found how they connect. Our Alexander Lake Brooks, Sr. is buried in Pisgah Meth. Ch., Ebenezer, Florence County, SC and on both sides of him are Stokes-he was from Laurens County, SC. We also have a Stokes connection on the Anderson side of Elizabeth Ann Pulliam b. 1816 married Thomas Warren Brooks, Sr. b. 1816 in Abbeville District, SC. Her sister married a Hodges and they had a child that married a Stokes. There are several Stokes in that District. There is also a connection with a Stokes and Brooks in Banks County, GA-where our Brooks were living in 1800s-1900s. Our Pulliams went to Alabama. They also used the names Fannie, Eula, Margaret, Sylvester and had Carter connections in Hasbe! rsham, Banks and Franklin County, GA. I have wondered about the Stokes connections many times-these Brooks seem to move all the time-it makes research difficult.

I believe this James Jenkins is a brother to my GGG-GM Nancy Jenkins Terry. Thanks much. Linda Subject: [ALPIKE] Response: Marriage look-up In the marriage book that I have on hand, there are some entries that go back to as far as 1835. There is the marriage of Jonas Jinkins to Nancy Townsend on Nov. 28, 1841. It is the only spelling of Jenkins in this particular book. A lot of Jenkins were in Barbour County.
