Manning whose land was in Sec. 21, T8, R21 which would have been in the Springhill area and according to the census this would be the area that your W.B. would have been. His wife was Nancy. Could be the parents? You need to check the estate records from Pike County and see if his name is mentioned in it.

There is an article in the Pike heritage book that lists Wm. P. as the son of Andrew Mills and wife Nancy Whaley. It was provided by Lanelle Ward Gundlach 1349 Middle River Drive Fort Lauderdale, Fl. 33304 if you want to check with her. What I found was census, marriage and her burial. The other was his unit in the war and the 1866 census that lists her with 4 daughters and no males and one soldier died in the war from sickness. She is listed next to Reuben Jeffcoat. I can look in my civil war book under dead and wounded lists and see if he is listed on one of them. Not all of them are in the newspaper books but many are.
