I know that my great-great grandmother came off a plantation. Her father came from Scotland(around the mid 1700s) with two brothers, and settled. I am waiting for info from a cousin on names. She was born around the civil war time. She was disowned by her father, and she went to work as a share cropper for another family nearby. She never married, had around 6 kids. She had no protector, and the owner decided she was his, not her idea. Her first child was named Will. He bought up a lot of land in the Woodruff, Spartanburg area. He married a Shipman and had three children. Ruth Elizabeth, Maude, William Otto.(he also bought up a lot of land in the area.) Years later Will recieved money from the estate, that should have been his mothers. There are a lot of Parhams in that area. Mostly red-heads. Do you have a copy of the will? Let me know what info you have. Any photos? It is certainly hard to find information on ancestors. Know any Gillespies? They married into the family.Know anything about the family before it moved to the states? Thanks for the help.look forward to hearing from you.
