I think they were brothers and were from Madison Co., AL, before Pickens County. Furthermore I think Elizabeth (Betsy) McGowan was a sister to Elbert, Hamilton and Prewitt. Elizabeth was b. 21 May 1797 either in Tennessee or South Carolina. She married Hezekiah Jones in Madison County Alabama on 29 Dec 1814. She died 5 Oct. 1863 in Pickens County Alabama.
