Do you know who John M. Crowell was? He is listed as a Confederate soldier serving in a Pickens County raised company of the 24th Alabama Infantry. The John Crowell above would probably have been to old to join. Is this a son of the above John Crowell who remained in Pickens County when the rest of the family moved to Mississippi? If so, why is he not on the 1850 census? If he was born after 1850, he would have been too young to serve in the Civil War. Any help on this would be appreciated.
