Acker, enlisted in the 11 th Alabama Cavalry, Carrollton, Alabama, company H, age 22, served in battle of Gettysburg. Samuel M. Acker, enlisted 31 July 1862, age 25, reported missing at Gettysburg, presumed dead on 3 April 1863. Joseph P. Acker was his brother, engaged in the same battle,but were separated. Joseph went to look for him later where he was last seen, but was unable to identify him among the dead soldiers. I am a descendant of Artemisia Acker b. 1810 and George W. Sharp. I have some information on the Acker family from books by Noble Acker and Elisha David Acker, supplemented by my own research. Max T.
