In Drury Parham's will a grandson, William Young Parham is mentioned. I believe that William Young is the son of Young Parham. William Young married Lucinda Bain of Greenville, SC. William died young, however he and Lucinda had 3 sons, George, Richard and William Joe Y. Parham. Lucinda followed two of her brothers to Alabama and brought her 3 sons finally settling around Hazel Green and Huntsville. My grandmother was the youngest daughter of William and Lucinda's oldest son, George. I can't prove that William Young Parham mentioned in Drury's will is "my" William, but I think he is. I would appreciate any information you have on Young Parham and his family. Thanks so much. June

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: CORR, WILLIAMSON, JAMES, LANGDON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VS.2ADE/749 Message Board Post: I'm looking for any information on African Americans named CORR in Pickens Co. -- and specifically on my g-grandfather, Henry Calvin Corr, born in either 1855 or 1864. I've found a Henry Corr listed in the 1870 Census in Gordo as 15 years old and born in Alabama, and he was enumerated with Newman Langdon, 52 (head of household, farmer, born in Tenn.), Mary Langdon (age 45, born in Tenn), Laura James (age 24, born in S.C.), Dotie James (age 4, born in Ala.), and Spencer James. I've also found my g-g-father in the 1910 Census in Dallas, TX, listed as "Herry Carr" as age 46 (and I've confirmed that through other relatives.) There is also a marriage record on the LDS site for Henry Corr and Maria Williamson in Lee Co., Alabama in December 1881, and our family bible lists them as "Henry Corr and Mariah Williamson," so I'm sure that's right too. If anyone has information on any of these people or their descendants, I'd love to exchange information with you.

    1. [ALPICKEN] Gale and Samuel Johnson
    2. I have an ancestor Gale Johnson, Sr. b. SC c. 1805 who had a son Samuel b. GA c. 1830. They were on the Pickens Co census of 1860 page 827. Possibly this Gale had a brother Samuel. It is a longshot, but names and some places match, even if the dates are off a bit. Therefore the brother theory. Betty

    1. [ALPICKEN] Hopper family in Pickens Co. 1858
    2. Would anyone have any information about the the James David Hopper family who lived in Pickens Co. - purchased 309 acres at 18S- 15W- Sec.10 and are shown on the 1870 census, page 5, at Dwelling # 33 - Providence Post Office - Henry's Precinct...? James David Hopper served in Capt. Lockett's Home Guard for Pickens Co. during the civil war. Question is whether his first wife may have died while in Pickens County and is perhaps buried there. Wife on 1870 Census is shown as "G.J." - yet later wife is Sara Frances (Huff) and 3rd wife after July 1880 is Martha. I am trying to sort out the children of James David Hopper. Any information will be appreciated. Thank you, Dorothy Hopper

    1. Re: [ALPICKEN] Gravesite Look-up for Gale and/or Rebecca Johnson
    2. Bobby & Sharon Richardson
    3. Hi Betty, This is Bobby Richardson. Surprise- I'm on this list, too! I checked the "Pickens County, Alabama Cemetery Records 1983", and I don't find any listing for Gale Johnson or wife Rebecca. Nor do I find them in "Deaths, Marriages and Confederate Soldiers Pickens County Alabama" by Betty Junkin. I do find Gale Johnson and his family in "Early Settlers of Pickens County, Alabama" by Jim Johnson, Jr. listed from the 1850 census and also listed as having bought 40 acres of land from the Federal Land Bank on 2/15/1847. It's shown at T22 R14 S17. The map in the book shows that to be just 1 section east of Olney in the southern part of the county. Is that Gale Johnson an ancestor of the Gale Johnson born 14 SEP 1849 who was Essie Mae Parker's grandfather? Bobby Delta12339@aol.com wrote: > If someone has a book of gravesites in Pickens Co., can you please look for Gale Johnson b. c. 1805 and wife Rebecca ? Johnson b. c. 1810?
