I have a SMITH family living in Pickens County, AL between the years of 1847 to 1855 (I think). This is what I have: 1850 Census Report dated Nov 7, 1850 from Pickens County, Southern District and on it the following is stated: Ann Smith age 41 born in S.C. Martha age 11 born in AL Samuel age 10 born in AL (real name R.S.) Tomoline age 9 born in AL (real name T.S. or Tomolone Solon) Elizabeth age 5 born in AL (E.A.) This family moved to Carroll County, Mississippi by 1860, I have a census report on them at that time. I am looking for Ann's husband, he had to have died between 1847 and Oct of 1855. Can anyone HELP me find some information on this family, like who was Ann's husband? and etc. etc. etc. Thank you so much for your time. Bobie

The Jordan sisters were my grandfather's grandmothers. Cecelia on the Beam side and Sarah on the Strickland. We had suspected that Julia that married John J. Strickland was also a sister to Cecelia and Sarah. Would you happen to know the parents of these 3 sisters? We found Sarah, Cecelia and brother William living in the household of a Thomas Carroll on the 1850 Pickens County Census. We also believe, but have been unable to confirm, that their mother's maiden name was Mary Carroll. We also suspect that her name was Mary because Sarah and Abel T. Strickland named their daughter Mary Alice. Sorry that we do not have any information on the children of John J. Strickland. Happy hunting and we will share any news we find. Please do the same. You can email us at martin0009@aol.com. Joyce and Tucker Martin
Hi, Regarding your post on the Stephensons. I have a little data on the Gillespie side. Sarah "Sallie" Gillespie was the daughter of Dr. John B. Gillespie and Nancy [maiden name unknown]. John B. married 2nd Amelia Gardner. Dr. John Gillespie's other children (there could be more) were: T. J., Mary Frances, Jacob Oscar, John, and Amanda. Dr. John Gillespie was the son of Jacob and Mary Gillespie. Jacob was the son of Joseph of Mecklenburg, NC. Hope this helps. I knew it was a long shot, but thought I would take a chance. I found Owen and Alabama A. Clemmons/Clemons in the 1930 census for Princeton Township, Jackson County. Also found what I believe was his death in 1933, but not sure. They had two children that I know of, Janie and Richard. Richard passed away in Huntsville, and have no idea who Janie married. I have been searching for info on Parham in England. It is in Ireland and Scotland. There is an estate there named Parham. Irish I believe. I have wondered about when they arrived here. I do know that Drury came with his two brothers from Ireland. He arrived sometime in the early 1800s'. There are Parhams on several ships list too. Around that time. Several were indentured servants. That is all I have for now. Keep in touch. You have my email address. Maybe between us we can come up with more. I wish I knew my great grandmothers name. Drurys daughter that was disowned. My aunt wont give me the info, even though its not her family. She is married to my uncle.

I haven't found anything on the Parham's further back than Drury. He fought in the Revolution and moved from Virginia to North Carolina first before moving on to SC. He was in NC in the late 1700's. I can't find him in VA. but that's where he came from and started fighting in the Revolution. Parham is an English name and if I could find him in Va. it would be easier to trace the Parham's to England. Do you have any other info? If so, please let me know and I'll keep you posted also. June
