Only Elijah and George fit my family, and they were born in the late 1790s, and Elijah's family went to Texas. But the rest of the names don't fit. Thanks again. Maybe there are other Pickens connections that we don't know about yet. Gordon

They were all born in the late 1700s. Elijah's sons were Thomas Lee, Wiliam Jackson, James Washington, John Leonarde and Elijah Upton. Elijah Upton Williams came to Texas and settled in Denton County. His sons were James U. John Richard and Joshua Ambrose. Joshua Ambrose is my grandfather. It doesn't sound like my Williams' are the ones you are looking for

He bought with relatives of mine. I found Jabez and family in Perry County, in a cemetery on the Curry Plantation. On a list of marriages in Pickens, I think it was, a Curry married a Stewart. I was not certain about the Stewart name - seemed to be a male named Hazel? Gordon Smith

I just saw your post on the Pickens page, re Peter Williams. I do not know whether he was in my line or not, but I am looking for four Williams brothers who moved to Pickens about 1823 and following, from Georgia, as far as I know. Peter could have been the father. One of the sons was named Elijah, but one problem I have with this is that I have no record that Elijah named a son Elijah. I do know that our Elijah moved to Texas. Do you find William R., Ezekiel and George W. in this line? gordonsmith@cablelynx.com

Sometime back I put a posting on the Spartanburg board and someone answered and asked me if I knew anything about Joseph Parham the son of Drury mentioned in the will who was left almost nothing. She said that he had died and had been found frozen to death. She indicated that it was assumed that he had been drinking. I'll try to find that correspondence tonight and send it to you tomorrow. I don't know a lot about Drury. I am related by way of his grandson mention in the will. His name was William Young Parham. He was my gggrandfather. He married Lucinda Bain of Greenville, SC. They had 3 children before he died quite young. I can't seem to find out anything else about him. That's why I've been looking at other Parhams mentioned in Drury's will. June

I don't have any Gillespies. The daughter of Drury's who stayed in the Spartanburg area(at least tothe one I know of) is Francis Ferguson...not Sarah, which I think I called her yesterday. At home I have some info on the family cemetary where she is buried outside Spartanburg. I do know that Drury fought in the American Rev as I found his pension listed and a note on the DAR site that he met his wife, Mary Polly Hinton in an army camp. They were married after the Rev. and settled first on the NC border, later moving to Spartanburg, SC. Let me know if you have trouble pulling up his will. June

I know that my great-great grandmother came off a plantation. Her father came from Scotland(around the mid 1700s) with two brothers, and settled. I am waiting for info from a cousin on names. She was born around the civil war time. She was disowned by her father, and she went to work as a share cropper for another family nearby. She never married, had around 6 kids. She had no protector, and the owner decided she was his, not her idea. Her first child was named Will. He bought up a lot of land in the Woodruff, Spartanburg area. He married a Shipman and had three children. Ruth Elizabeth, Maude, William Otto.(he also bought up a lot of land in the area.) Years later Will recieved money from the estate, that should have been his mothers. There are a lot of Parhams in that area. Mostly red-heads. Do you have a copy of the will? Let me know what info you have. Any photos? It is certainly hard to find information on ancestors. Know any Gillespies? They married into the family.Know anything about the family before it moved to the states? Thanks for the help.look forward to hearing from you.

Surnames: Parham Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VS.2ADE/506.1.1 Message Board Post: LaVerne, Drury Parham has a will posted on the internet which list all his children, wife and grandson who inherited his property. It was located in Spartanburg, SC. His younget son Young Parham inherited most of the property. Ten years later most of the family including Young had left SC for AL. Some settled in Madison Co. AL, some in Pickens Co. and Green Co. and one in Franklin Co. This whole area is very rich land to farm. The big plantations in AL before the civil war were in those counties. The family left in SC that I know of was a daughter by the name of Sarah (I think). She married a Ferguson. They remained in SC and have a family cemetary close to Spartanburg. I'll have to check my records on all this . I'm answering at work and my notes are at home. I would like very much to know more about the SC family. I'd appreciate any info you care to share. Thanks in advance. June

    2. Richard and Hildred A Carlson
    3. My great grandfather was James H. Duncan, b. 1827, d. (?), married Lucretia Ann Cooper,d/o Robert & Julia Killingsworth Cooper, on July 28, 1859 in Tuscaloosa Co.,AL James H.and Lucreita Duncan lived in northern Tuscaloosa Co., AL near New Lexington at one time. I am searching for the parents of James H. Duncan. There was a John Duncan who married Mary Ann Dowdle on March 4, 1825 in Tuscaloosa Co., AL. Since James H. Duncan was b. in 1827, I wondered if he could be the s/o John and Mary Ann Dowdle Duncan. Any info on either John and Mary Ann Duncan or James H. and Lucreita Ann Duncan will be appreciated. Finding James H. Duncan's parents would knock down a "brick wall" that I have been working on for a long time. Thanks, Hildred Carlson
