Hello! I am new to the list. I am researching my husband's Perry ancestors in Perry County. I am interested in finding out more about the Perrys who moved from Franklin County, NC to Perry County AL prior to 1865, bringing their slaves with them. Those slaves would have included my husband's ancestors. His great grandmother, Endie Perry and her brother, Spence Perry, were born in NC according to 1870, 1880 and 1900 Perry County census records. Spence Perry's daughter, Lula Perry Ervin, died in 1996 in Bibb County at the age of 104. Prior to her death, she had related to us the story of how the Perrys came to North Carolina, however she did not know the first names. If anyone has information on what NC Perry families moved to Perry County and the plantations that they owned, please let me know. I would like to obtain plantation records if available. I am also curious to know if the Oliver Hazard Perry, the War of 1812 hero after whom the county was named, is related to the NC Perrys. I have seen the name of an Oliver Hazard Perry who lived here, but he was much younger.
