    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: SANDERS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JU.2ADI/602 Message Board Post: I am seeking the birth records of my maternal grandfather, CECIL S. SANDERS. He was born in Tennessee abt. 1903. It appears that there was no official statewide registration of births in Tennessee before 1908 and I’ve hit a dead end. I was told that he was a traveling salesman by trade & a darn good one at that! He died of a heart attack on June 9, 1953 in New Orleans, LA. He is buried next to his wife (my grandmother & namesake) ALMA DIXON SANDERS (b.1919 VA – d.1958 OH) near Clintwood, VA. (I have cemetery photos) My grandfather was born to WILLIAM LAFAYETTE & MARGIE SANDERS. (Maiden name unknown) They may have resided in or around TRAFFORD or WARRIOR ALABAMA in JEFFERSON COUNTY. Other children of Wm & Margie were (1) HATTEN (2) JOHN (3) RAYMOND (4) JACK (5) one daughter, ELSIE. I am fairly new at this and would greatly appreciate any information or advice as to how to proceed. . I began my initial search back in Nov 2002 with nothing more than the names of my deceased maternal grandparents and a “general idea” of the areas to begin looking. I never knew my father (WARREN DOUGLAS DAILEY b. KY abt 1931) and have searched for well over 20 years with no luck. The only concrete evidence I have to prove he ever existed is my birth cert and the death certificate of my one and only sibling who died prior to my birth. (DEBRA ZACKIE DAILEY b. 07-08-1955 d. 12-01-1955 Letcher County Jenkins, Ky) The document states that both parents were present when the death was reported in Letcher County. My mother ( PEGGY JOYCE SANDERS b. 1939 Jenkins, KY) and her brother, EDDIE SANDERS b. abt 1935 Jenkins, KY) intentionally withheld information regarding my father for reasons I never understood. I would be willing to share other (limited) information with you should any of this ring a bell. Thanks to a complete stranger in VA who responded to one of my “many” posts, I now have pictures of my baby sister’s grave along with those of my grandparents and a few associated family members. The dates & other info I was able to obtain from the headstones enabled me to get this far. (Thanks again to my Appalachian Angel where ever you are) Again, I would be truly grateful for any information you may be willing to share. Please feel free to email me at my private address. God Bless, Alma Dailey-Harings ([email protected])
