AMEY7 WHITE (JOHN6, JOHN5, HENRY4, JOHN3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born 14 January 1810 in Elbert, Georgia, and died 23 March 1860 in Alto, Cherokee County, Texas. She married WILLIAM WATTERS 07 January 1830 in Perry County, Alabama, son of SAMUEL WATTERS and POLLY RADFORD. He was born 21 September 1805 in Ogelthorpe County, Georgia, and died 11 December 1859 in Cherokee County, Texas. More About AMEY WHITE: Burial: Harrison-Armstrong Cemetery in Cherokee County Notes for WILLIAM WATTERS: >From Louise Birchfield: Cynthia, you're right. His name is Watters. He's the son of Samuel Watters and Polly Anna Radford. Here's the 1850 Perry Co., AL census for William and Amy. I think the confusion probably came from someone trying to read very difficult-to-read writing. There are Texas connections for this family. Polly Anna Radford Watters was a sister to William Radford. William Radford's daughter Susan, married George H. Hanson and their children wound up in Texas and Arkansas. Another daughter, Winnie, married John Oakes. Their family moved to Limestone Co., Texas. The widow and children of William's son, William Tarpley, moved to Freestone Co., Texas. John Oakes father, William Oakes, was the guardian of Nancy Cross Huff and her brother, James Franklin Cross. They also wound up in Texas. She was in Navarro Co. and he and his secnd wife, Sarah Brittain Watters, died in Hunt Co., Texas. I am so far behind in updating my FTM files. I'm not sure who the parents were of James Franklin Cross', Sarah Brittain Watters but I probably have it somewhere. As you can see, there are many family connections to those people who left Perry Co. and came west. I'll see if I can find William and Amy in a Texas census so he can see that they're the same Perry Co. folks. I'll let you know whether or not I find Texas census records for this family. Feel free to share this with others. Louise In checking my files for Darryl, I have the name of Amy's husband as Watters not Wallace - will start going through my files but any help you have will be appreciated - since I am new to the Perry county board, must get up to speed here fast - sorry to be so slow Cynthia More About WILLIAM WATTERS and AMEY WHITE: Marriage: 07 January 1830, Perry County, Alabama Children of AMEY WHITE and WILLIAM WATTERS are: i.
