I have three church books from the library that have name indexes. I would be glad to do look-ups. Alabama Baptists: Southern Baptists in the Heart of Dixie (1800-1998) by Wayne Flynt History of Methodism in Alabama and West Florida (1803-1959) by Marion Elias Lazenby The Presbyterian Church in Alabama (1811-1936) by John Williams Marshall Kim in AL
Kim, you came along at a good time; I am at a dead end. My great-great grandfather, J.A. (Josiah Alexis) HOWARD was a Baptist minister in Alabama, traveled in Texas, and came back to Alabama where he died in October, 1928. His obituary in Selma stated he had served as pastor of Grove Hill, Felix, and Pine Belt Baptist churches. Is there any mention of him in this book at any particular time? Kim, Thank you very much for volunteering to do these lookups!! In the Alabama Baptists' book, does it show any of the following?: Henry Oliver Haggard (1817-1868), Noah Haggard (1788-1866), Henry H. Haggard(1746-1842) These are son, father and grandfather, all Baptist preachers. The son of Henry Oliver Haggard, James Worthy Haggard, was also a preacher, but not sure if he was Baptist or had flown the coop into Methodism since he is buried in a Methodist Church cemetery in Hale County, Alabama. Thanks again for doing these lookups!! Have a Happy!! Lloyd Heard
Kim, Would you look up Carter Tubb (or maybe Tubbs) and see if there's anything on him? Kim, would you see if Rev. Jeremiah F. Johnson is listed in the ALABAMA BAPTISTS book. Thanks. Cathy
