Don't know if this will help or not. I have the printed 1850 census for Perry compiled by Mrs. Daws. I show a Daniel in Severe Beat and a Donell in Oldtown near the living among a lot of Lagrones. Severe Beat Old Town Beat Daniel 30 Donell 35 Ann 36 Anie 45 James P.11 James 12 Drayden H. 9 Drayden 10 Wm. 7 Wm.8 Mary 5 Ann 6 Caroline 1 Jane 4 Sarah 2 Old Town Dobbins are living in the following order: HH# 167Washington age 40, #168John 65, #170 John Lagrone 60, #171 Martin Lagrone, 35 #173 Donell 35. It occurs that John, age 65, might be father of all these Dobbins men if that's any help. The only connection I see in your data is the obvious one--that both Chesley Leverett and the Dobbins man married Lagrones. DJ
DJ, would you please check Washington Dobbins on the 1850 Census for me. What is his wife's name and where was she born? Where was *he* born? Also, it seems to me that 80 acres is quite a lot of land just to be given to a brother-in-law of Washington's brother, Daniel. And that is the acreage in the 1872 deed where Chesley sells the land to McLaughlin. (see my lst message to the list today) Do you or a list member know the meaning of the phrase " ... lawfully seized in fee of the afore granted premises .. " found in the cited 1872 deed in my lst message? Does this mean Chesley may have inherited the land? Agan, thank you for your help. Charlotte
