Perhaps one of you can help. Richard Pitts married Nancy Jane McCollum in Perry County ca. 1849-1850. They moved to Harrell's Crossroads in Dallas County and had several children: Elizabeth I (Bettie) b. 1850, Richard H. Jr. b. 1952, Constantine P. b. 1858, E.I. b. 1870, and Eliza b. 1862. I find the whole family in the 1860 and 1870 census' but can't find any trace of any of them after that. Does anyone have any information about that family? Howard

While not a Pitts researcher, I seem to always come across them in my research, particularly in Uniontown. From Some Early Alabama Churches by Wilson, Woodyerd, and Busby First Presbyterian Church of Uniontown was formed in December 1848 with eight members, one being Margaret M. Pitts. From Holy Cross Episcopal Church Cemetery in Uniontown, Perry County, AL Dr. David Samuel Pitts 1875-1903 Mattie L. Pitts, 1850-1887 William Lee Pitts, 1849-1910 Eliza V.D. Pitts, died 1850 aged 26 (All buried next to each other) Uniontown Cemetery - Waters Road The southern fourth of the cemetery has a section with quite a few Pitts. For Amy who has a Morgan-Pitts connection, there are also Morgans in this cemetery. It was raining the day I was there and I only wrote down surnames as I was searching for my Clarkes. Some of the Morgan's are listed on Dr. Judy's cemetery page. You can link to it from the Perry County web page. www.rootsweb.com/~alperry Kim in AL CLARKE, BLAKE, PARNELL/PYRNELLE, RUFFIN
What do you know about that Nichols line? How are they related to the Sanders? In the Sanders Bible there is a Nichols listed. This is not my direct line but thought I would ask since you may know the answer. My name is Toni Carrier. I am the founding director of the University of South Florida Africana Heritage Project. We are committed to rediscovering precious records documenting African American ancestry, and making that information available on a free, public access internet site. Our website, which will be hosted by Rootsweb (God Love ‘Em), is now under construction, and we are accepting submissions of deed and will records that list slaves by name. We hope to come become a valuable resource to folks who are searching for slave ancestry, and to encourage a groundswell among the genealogical community, to rediscover these precious documents. Our website will also contain research articles on various topics relating to slavery and emancipation, and we will offer lesson plans for using this information as a teaching tool. Each record that we recover is a precious stone added to the pile, and we cherish our contributors. Please let us hear from you at toniheadr@aol.com, and God Bless.
I am researching Lucinda Wright Davis. I am looking for proof that Lucinda was the daughter of John Wright who is listed in the 1840 census of Perry County, Alabama. I am attempting to do an DAR application on the Wright/Griffin/Stovall lines. This is the only generation that I can't prove. I would appreciate any input. John Wright moved to Union Parrish, LA prior to the 1850 census. In the 1860 census of Union Parrish, LA John Wright was living next door to John B. Davis, the son of Lucinda Wright and Anderson B. Davis. Thanks for any input.

I still have not determined the relationship of James Edwards, and his brothers George and John, to Reuben Edwards. Perhaps they are nephews? I have found Reuben, John, James and Miller Edwards in Police Jury Records for Union Parish, LA as early as 1841-43. Also several deed records. Nothing that suggests how they are related. My next step may be to look at Perry County Alabama records for the 1820-1840 period. I would be interested in any information that you might come across about the Edwards family. Jean
