    2. Hi Melissa I appreciate both the info on the map and the land patents. I had found the patents for the Owen and Wegar but with a map, that sure might put this in perspective, as if I ever prove this John and Samuel Owen were brothers marrying Wegar sisters, then I need to go backwards to learn their parents. These patents jus]t might be of some value. Alice

    3. Hi Alice, Did anyone ever get back to you on this? I didn't remember a reply, so I'm sorry if this is a duplicate, but I remembered the question and I had to get my map out tonight so I thought I'd reply. The only Bethlehem that I find is in North West Perry County, about a mile south of the Bibb County line on a road labeled 219. I don't think I've ever been in this part of Perry Co., and the map doesn't say anything about what kind of church, just Bethlehem Church. Also, no label for a cemetary, but there is a cemetary on the map that is sort of across the road from the church. If you're going to do much research on Perry Co. I highly recommend the maps from the Ala. Dept. of Transportation. I think mine cost $3-$4 including shipping and it's a great, very detailed map, about 2'x3'. 2. Hi Melissa I was re-reading your message and I am not sure that I responded to each item.. as to my digging in Perry County - the families I am interested in are Owen primarily and Wegar/Weger/Wiger/Wieger/Wiggen, etc. I know that two females (sisters) married two Owen men...I would like to prove they were brothers, and then I would like to find proof of their parentage. I have found John Owen marrying Lucinda Weger, Samuel Owen marrying Cynthe(Cynthia?) Weiger and I think both were daughters of David Weiger/Weger. Lucinda marries in 1846, so she is not named on the census with her family in 1850, but she fits in the females in his household. Cynthia is in Davids HH in 1850. Then I would like to find a relationship between Knave/Nave, (perhaps a Thomas) and the Owen or Weger famiiles. The 1860/1870/1880 census divisions are not the same so there is no way to easily search them page by page to see if these people stay in the same place. I have not been able to find Samuel Owen and Cynthia in 1870. I do in 1860 and a possibility in 1880 in Arkansas. Lucinda who married John was there in Perry Co in 1850, 1860 and I am pretty sure John died during the war. I find her still there in 1880 and she is buried there, but can't locate any of these people in 1870 in Perry Co...but there sure are a lot of black Owen(s). I am wondering if these people had a lot of slaves that were freed there? I am thinking they may have missed a big section of Perry Co and these Owen families may have been close together. I have just located a possibility for Cynthia Owen as head of HH in Tuscaloose in 1870 - the age fits, one daughter Mary fits...but no one else in HH. Her husband missing and also two kids...so don't know if coincidence or they were elsewhere. So, if you might have knowledge of any of these names let me know...only sending this cause you asked...I really don't expect you to do anything with it... Alice in Fluvanna

    3. I hope you have luck with this. I am using Ms. Kitty Grey Long, and she seems very capable, but she's busy and doesn't have email, so I have to wait for snail mail and I am so impatient. <g> What family are you researching? I doubt that I would know who you are looking for, but I have tons of ancestors from Perry Co. and sometimes you get lucky. Oh, one other thing to look at, have you been to this site? http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/9365/ It lists many cemetaries in Perry Co. and you might find your family there. On ancestry I saw a few (maybe 2) family pages that listed 5 siblings, four of which were Milton, Harvey, your Clarissa, and Amarantha. (The fifth I can't remember. We literally just moved and all my research is still packed up.) The info I have gathered about Milton I recieved from his second wife's family. Someone on that side told me she believed he had a sister named Amarantha, and since that name is not too common, and the dates and places are close I feel I have found the right family, but am trying to verify it before I go any further. I have seen my Gary family linked to the wrong Gary's occasionally and I don't want to further the confusion. I would enjoy any info you might have about the Gary's including Clarissa and her offspring and I'll share what I have. Thanks so much for your help.

    3. Hi Mary, I don't know anything aboout your Conway ancestsors. However, I am from Selma, Al., a short drive from Marion. I knew a family of Conways there. Once I went to the home of their grandfather. He lived in Marion Junction, Al. about 15 miles from Selma. Marion Junction is in Dallas Co. You might check out that area for your people. 3. A lot of the marriages are available on the web, check out the Perry Co. pages on rootsweb for a link (if you can't find it let me know and I will get it for you when I don't have supper on the stove). Otherwise, the probate office has a list of about 4 people that will research for $$$. I am going that route for now as I am in NC and have 2 small children. So, even on the rare occasion that I get to Perry Co. I don't try the courthouse. Good luck.
