Surnames: Sanders Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JU.2ADI/133.134.136.137.142.353.359.4.2 Message Board Post: The Vinson Sanders that was on the 1830 census of Perry county, AL was the son of William Sanders and Elizabeth Tubb. Vinson's committed suicide in 1840 two weeks after his wife was found murdered in their home. We found this out by reading an old 1840 Marion, Alabama newspaper article. William Sanders, Vinson's father, was a brother to the Vincent/Vinson Sanders of Franklin County, North Carolina. Some of Vincent's children (as a matter of fact many of them) made it to Perry County, AL. Sons: William N., Sherrod W., Layton, Alfred (for a little while) and maybe others. You know Alfred eventually went on to Texas. Layton actually went to Noxubee county for about 20 years then returned to Perry county. Then, after Layon died in 1866 in Perry county, his wife, Rachel, returned to Noxubee county and passed away there some time after 1885. Interestingly, Layton and Rachel had a daughter named Rachel Thursday Sanders. Note, Layton had a sister named Thursday. I'm look you: I still don't know for sure who Vinson/Vincent's and William's parents are but it still looks like it points to that William Sanders who died about 1812 in Pendleton District. Yet, still, Nannette is also right, too, because we are connected with those bunch of Sanders' that came out of Virginia (Thomas Sanders, Edward Sanders, Ebenezer Sanders, etc.). Just where is the connection for sure I don't know. We'll keep looking. Maybe we'll find an answer one day. Todd

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JU.2ADI/907.1.1 Message Board Post: Hey, thanks. Yes, this was a big help. I was interested because my Sanders folks were from the area that was about 7 miles north of Marion (turn off hwy.29 onto hwy.116). Some of my relatives are buied in the old Mt.Zion church cemetery and a cemetery out in the woods across from the Union church located off hwy.116. In some census records the area was known as "old town beat" but one time I think I remembered seeing their beat as the "jerico beat". I just, again, wondered what the railroad was there for and you helped answer the question. So, again, thanks! Todd

    1. Re: [ALPERRY] Re: Waggoner, Murphy, Wonderly HenamanSurnames
    2. Hi to the List I am intested in the Waggoner surname to see if anyone has followed it to see a variant spelling of Weiger/Wager/Weger/Wegar, etc. I don't have all of the notes that I followed but I was trying to follow a marriage between an Samuel Owen and Cynthia Weiger, and going backwards and forwards I found what I believed to be the Weiger family spelled just about everyway! Anyway if this of interest to anyone let me know or post to the list and maybe we can share. I am still trying to prove this family line is correct. This was in Perry County. Thanks Alice in Fluvanna Co., VA
