Mine was Josiah Alexis Howard; he was even pastor of the Adams Street Baptist Church in Montgomery in his early days! Pat Hansen -----Original Message----- From: J Lloyd Heard [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, April 09, 2002 3:12 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ALPERRY] "The Alabama Baptist" Pat, The Alabama Baptist was a newspaper. It was originated in Marion, Perry County, Alabama in the early 1800's, probably around 1825. I don't know if it is still published or not, but the old building where it was published is an historical site in Marion, and is located on the street that leads in to the main entrance to Judson University. I have copied several of the old newspapers from the 1850's & 1860's and one from 1885 from the library at Samford University in Birmingham. BTW, my great great grandfather was a Baptist minister also. His name was Noah Haggard. Have a Happy!! Lloyd Heard, List Administrator.
