Phyllis, I don't the Griffin/Caddel/Atchison moved, but rather there was a boundary line change between Bibb and Perry County. I am a descendant and researcher of this family. Marion F. was son of Robert W. and Nancy Caddell Griffin, I either didn't know or had forgotten that his middle name was Francis. We don't know what happened to him after his marriage to Atchison. Hello, all interested persons in the study of the DUKE family name and the lines in SC and Alabama. I have recently found the final estate settlement record, concerning the estate of Robert DUKE, who deceased in Perry Co., Al., in ca. 1850, or later. It appears, in this document, that Robert had two sons and one daughter, some of the details of which were not generally known to me, earlier. He was the son of Thomas DUKE of Fairfield District, as described by Tony Cox. It is possible to see much about these two men on the web-pages which Tony has so faithfully maintained, at www.home.att.net/~ztlcox/ , and I understand that he intends to add this document there, in the very near future. I asm very pleased to welcome any comments, or questioins about this document, and the man from whom iit originates. I do not claim to be an expert, but now, I can safely claim to be a descendant!! Regards to all the DUKE lines represented on these lists!! Joe DUKE

Hello, Bibb and Perry County seekers. I visited in the two Countys' archives, at the Probate Judge's office, earlier, this month, and was able to fiind some extremely valuable data, concerening my DUKE family people who lived in Bibb and Perry in the mid-1800's. I was also privileged to meet face to face with KPAT and HERMAN, two local and very helpful genealogy students from whom I have received much helpful advice!! I want to take this opportunity to thank those two, and the other kind folks on this list, for the many times in which they have been of assistance. In days to come, when the new material can be properly displayed, I will do so, for the benefit of others of the DUKE family who may still need this info. The processing of the details is now being done, and I will not delay unduly, in getting the info to all. I seldom see flowers thrown, on these Rootsweb lists, so I thought that I would throw a few at KPAT and at HERMAN, hoping that some of the blooms will fall on each of the others who is due them!! Thanks to all, and keep on searching!! Regards. Joe DUKE
