The only organized Co. before then was Madison Co. in north Al.There are tax records for Madison Co. for the years 1810-1815. All the rest of northern Al. was referred to as the Mississippi Territory.When Morgan Co was organized , the lower part of Madison co. was included, at least the river bend area. There may be tax records for the Mississippi Territory, but I have been unable to find any.I have relied on the AIS Census Report for Al. which does include Miss. Ter. and some tax listings . Although it is for 1819, It does go back for some individuals to 1721. The earliest census report I've found is for 1820, for Morgan Co. Best wishes ,Marilyn >>
