    3. Better yet, Paula.... with the idea in mind of free sharing history and geneologies; however, why not use a state genweb's virtual or the US virtual cemetary listing so that the information is FREE instead of limiting your research and footwork to a commercial software company that will charge the rest of the world to get what you have contributed? The USGENweb site is http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm, and the national virtual tombstone url (that will take you to each state registry) is http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/. Another suggestion I'd like to add is that why not each of us that are able go out to ONE cemetary and photograph each headstone so that the entire cemetary is documented? This photo idea is the same idea that has existed for a while of "listing" cemetaries. That way instead of their being 10 of us that go out to 4 different cemetaries (many of which will overlap) to take 10 pictures at each place, we could create 10 *fully* documented cemetaries. (At the same time, it is smart to register with your GENweb virtual cemetary person so that two of us don't go out to photo the same cemetary.) Or if you're concerned that no one will participate or do so unequally, then get a group of friends together that are interested and decide who is documenting which cemetary. Haven't you had the problem of opening a listing for a cemetary far away to find only a partial listing of 4 or 5 names? Often times someone was there and took the time to list their own, but didn't have the time nor ambition to bother to list even one stone further than their own. Or found that a long lost relative was in an old, old cemetary where the stones all around were listed by some family, but while folks knew this old relative was there with a *very* deteroriating stone, they did nothing. Unfortunately, now it isn't possible to read most of the information? These are just thoughts to add to your super great idea, Paula. No matter how you choose to do it... the idea is DO it! ;o) ----- Original Message ----- From: "paulahurst" <paulahurst@gateway.net> To: <ALMORGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 20, 2000 11:53 AM Subject: [ALMORGAN] VIRTUAL CEMETERY > I just found this neat site where you can contribute photos of your > ancestors' tombstones and their birth, death, etc. You can also search it > for relatives' tombstones.
