Hello folks, I'm looking for information on a Mary Staten who married a Doctor. According to family members, my husband's great grandmother Nina Brooks was raised by Dr. and Mary Staten, because her family died of yellow fever. I found a Mary A. Staten who was a Burleson. She did live in DeSoto Co., Miss at one time. This is where my husband's great grandfather James Spencer was born. I think that there could be a connection with this Mary A. Staten to Nina (Brooks) Spencer. There are similar things such as: James and Nina named one of their children Joseph Burleson. James was born in DeSoto Co., Mississippi. The Mary A. (Burleson) Staten did marry a doctor. I'm told by family members that Mary's son was in El Paso Texas at one time and according to the LDS Mary A. Staten died in El Paso Texas.
