Millard W. Breeding, a black cousin, was killed in Hartselle on December 3, 1907. The info I have is that he was hit by a train, saving a child who had caught his foot in the track. Millard had been born March 1855 to William Breeding, later of the 7th Alabama Calvary and Sophrina, his "Wife." I am trying to get more info on the black side of the family for a forthcoming book. Does anyone have a newspaper clipping or other info on this incident. Incidentally Millard was the lead defendant in a suit brought by James Breeding, his uncle challenging his father's will that had been decided about six years previously.
