Dear Edna, I cannot say what newspaper is the oldest in Morgan County but the oldest that I have been able to find is the Enquirer. See http://www.hartselleenquirer.com/history.html. Perhaps you can help me with a mixed Morgan County Marshall Count and Madison County problem involving the Thompson family. I am trying to find out what happened to Mary Alice (known as Alice) Key who married Thomas T. Thompson on 25 Mar 1874 at the residence of her father, W. Pleasant Key in Gandy's Cove, Morgan County, AL. Her mother died in 1874. According to Key researchers, W. Pleasant Key then moved to the New Hope area of Madison County, probably to live with or near Alice and Thomas. I am not at all sure that they lived in any one place. I find a T. T. Thompson listed in marriage records in Marshall County as the minister who performed several marriages in the Warrenton area. In one he was referred to as DM, C.L.?. Circ. The person who transcribed the record could not decipher it but perhaps it was trying to tell us that the Rev. Thompson was a circuit rider. Many preachers were in that time period. Is the Rev. Thompson one of your Thompsons? If so, do you know his religion and his regular church, if he had one? I would appreciate any information that you can give me. Barbara Finney
