    1. [ALMORGAN] Tip on finding an old graveyard
    2. KHarrison
    3. When searching for a graveyard in the woods where you know it is in the general area, stand back and take a good look. If you see any trees out of proportion, by being taller than the rest, start your search there. For 40 years I have been locating old cemeteries and have found this to work in many instances. Loggers will rarely cut a tree around a graveyard. Carolyn Ballantyne in Maine gore@pivot.net Kathy/MI harris@livingonline.com When this you see, remember me

    1. [ALMORGAN] Albert Kim Roper - Trinity about 1892
    2. Boo da Pest
    3. Hi, I'm looking for any information that anyone might have about the family of Albert Kim Roper (possibly Jr.) who married Minnie No 'della (Della) Privett in Trinity, 31 Mar 1892. Albert had brothers Ike, Steve and Babe and a sister Nettie. Sometime after the marriage they moved to Navarro County, TX. I don't know if just Albert and Della moved or if other family members moved as well. My grandmother, one of Albert's daughters thought that Albert was also her grandfather's name, but she wasn't sure. I have photo copied pages from the family bible that takes the family into the present, but I have nothing on the Roper line beyond the Albert - Della marriage and a photo of Ike, Steve, Babe and Nettie. Any assistance would be appreciated. Rich Reed

    1. [ALMORGAN] Listowner is back home from the FGS Conference
    2. My email has been overloaded as I have been gone for a week but I did try to help those wanting to subscribe or unsubscribe. Hopefully most of you didn't miss me too much<g> I was at the FGS (Federation of Genealogical Societies) in Salt Lake City. If you were unable to attend you missed an excellent conference. There was over 2000 in attendance. There were 100 speakers with most having mulitple lectures. The LDS made it very convenient for those attending to also visit the libraries by staying open until midnight during the convention. After almost 4 years, I had the pleasure of putting a face to USGenWeb's ARGenWeb's state coordinator, Betsy Mills, who was tending the RootsWeb booth. I also got to meet one of my listers who came from Idaho to the conference. Not to mention the beautiful country. As luck would have it..I set aside Sat evening to work on my genealogy but I had an allergy reaction to something I ate at the Spaghetti Factory so after looking at 2 books I spent till midnight in the emergency room hooked up to an IV and oxygen. But I did enjoy meeting the people in Utah they are all very accommodating and hospitable. I did get a copy of America, America The Ultimate Gazetteer of the First 48 States on CD to review. It took 5 years in the making and more than 1300 pages. It is to be compiled from maps, postal guides, GNIS, shipping guides, atlases, gazetteers, internet resources, business directories, city, county and state histories. I will try to get this reviewed in the next few weeks and let you all know a little more about it. A few of the national conferences for next year: FGS will be at Quad Cities in Davenport, IW Sept 12-15 Gentech will be held in Mesquite, TX Feb 2-3 NGS (National Genealogical Societies) will be May 16-19 in Portland, Oregon Remember AGS (AR Genealogical Society) Seminar will be Oct 20-21 at the Holiday Inn Airport-East in Little Rock. It is my understanding that Desmond Walls Allen will not only lecture at AGS but also at Gentech next year. Desmond please correct me if I have been misinformed. Good luck in your search! Kathy
