I have transcribed and posted the Muster Roll of Captain S. H. Dailey's company of 1st Class Malitia from Monroe County. The Muster Roll is dated 16 Sept 1864. Notable on this roster is the age of the soldiers -- many in their 50's or teens, along with the great number which did not have a gun. Many of these are the fathers and younger brothers of soldiers that were already in the Confederate service. The original document is in the Regimental History files of the Ala. Dept. of Archives and History in Montgomery. There is nothing quite so moving as holding the actual muster roll in your hands and recognizing family names.
