This was sent to me, and thought it may interest other Stabler researchers. Can anyone add to this? I am looking for the parents of Sarah Elizabeth Stabler, who married Richard Monroe Turberville. Thanks, Deanie Most all accounts indicate that Gottlieb Stabler came from Germany to SC and was married to Anna Barbara Ziegler in Orangeburg, SC in 1757. The story is that their son, John Jacob Stabler, b. May 8, 1772, came to Monroe County and died there in 1844. There is some reason to believe that Samuel (father of Calvin C.) was a nephew of John Jacob. It is said that Malachi Stabler, b. 1817 was son of John Jacob, but I do not know about the James or Jacob who lived nearby in the 1840 census. They may have been sons or nephews. According to Rev. Stabler, the family was in winemaking in Germany. Gottlieb is supposed to have been the son of Christian and Margaret Stabler. I don't know if Gottlieb had any siblings to come over to the SC colony. Gottlieb was born January 20, 1731/32 in Wurttemberg according to my sources.
