Benjamin Bonner was born in Spartanburg Dist., S.C. about 1790, a son of Dempsey and (probably) his second wife Nancy (Knight) Bonner. He married Rachel Robinson Black 27 May 1816 in Jackson Co., Ga. Rachel was born about 1796 in South Carolina of unknown parents. Their movements through Georgia and Alabama are not clear, but they may have been in Wilcox Co., Ala. as early as 1824, where they appear on the 1830 census. In 1838 Benjamin bought the SE 1/4 of Sec. 3, T7N, R6E and some adjacent property, about 256 acres in all, located about 2 miles west of Fountain, in Monroe Co., Ala. Benjamin Bonner died 1 Dec 1854, and his wife died 3 April 1856, both in Monroe county. Their burial places are unknown. Children, last 10 definitely born in Ala.: 1) Robert James Knight Bonner, b. 24 Mar 1817, d. 1874 in Sugartown, La.; m. (1) Nancy Stanley 8 Jan 1835 in Wilcox Co., Ala. who d. 1839; (2) Amanda Blount 2 Jan 1840 who d. 7 Aug 1840; (3) Avitha Watson 3 Nov 1843. The first two died in childbirth. 2) Dempsey A. Bonner, b. 10 Dec 1818, d. 28 Apr 1891; m. Hannah Forehand (an Indian) 11 Jul 1839 in Monroe Co.; buried in Old Bethel Cem., Choctaw Co., Ala. 3) Mary (Polly) Ann Bonner, b. abt. 1819; m. 28 Nov 1835 Larkin Vaughn. 4) Nancy Matilda Bonner, b. 11 Sep 1824, d. 9 Apr 1896; m. (1) William Bivin; m. (2) William Dawson Morris 20 Jun 1852; buried in Hixon Cem., Monroe Co., Ala. 5) Linnie Minerva Bonner, b. 19 Jul 1826, d. 1 Jan 1890 in Franklin, Monroe Co., Ala.; m. Jackson A. McKinley 12 Dec 1842; both are buried in Spring Hill Cem., at Franklin, Monroe Co., Ala. 6) Winnie Martheny Bonner, b. abt. 1827; m. Nathaniel Bivin 30 Nov 1847. 7) Rachel Ellender Bonner, b. abt. 1830; m. DeKalb Bivin 15 Aug 1850. 8) Elizabeth Jane Bonner, b. abt. 1832, d. bef 1855; m. Henry R. Liddell 2 Dec 1852; after Elizabeth's death, Henry married her sister Isabella. 9) Mary Glenbeth Bonner, b. 10 May 1834, d. bef 1840. 10) Isabella P. Bonner, b. abt. 1836; m. Henry R.
