    1. Re: [ALMONROE-L] marriage cd #3 FTM
    2. I have never had a problem with the personnel at the courthouse - in fact they have always been more than helpful. I am aware that people think Monroe Co is a poor county but I just don't believe that. Jackson Co, MS is a "poor" county too; however, they have one of the best librarys I have ever seen. They have ALL of the Alabama census records ever published in addition to numerous other states census records. In addition, they have racks and racks of books, marriage records, land records and numerous other items I have never touched. This is due to the active genealogy personnel employed and volunteers in the library doing a wonderful job. I do believe that Judge Biggs has an obligation to protect all public records in the courthouse. It is my understanding that the courthouse burned one time and all records were lost. In my opinion, anyone who would turn down an offer to preserve the records - free of charge - is mentally impaired. LDS does not charge anyone for using their web site. I do not understand anyone trying to turn this into a religious issue. And I certainly don't think LDS was trying to tell the people of Monroe Co how to run their business. In case anyone is wondering - NO I am not a member of LDS.
