Just to thank Deanie for her work, and to underline her thoughts on transcribing census records. Thanks Deanie!!! As everyone knows that has looked at microfilms of census records, they are not easy to read on the machines. Some pages are just there to start with, then the copied pages from the machines are worse sometimes than what is seen on the machine. I have had trouble finding my own family even if I knew the names of everyone I was looking for in family. Taking all of this into consideration image sitting at your computer with a photocopy of a poorly copied census record written some 140 years ago. We do the very best we can in reading the records to place online. We try not to rewrite history, we do what we can within our own powers to type just what was written. Mistakes can and I am sure will be made as each of us can read something totally different in a family that is not ours, and some in a family that is ours. Transcribing census records or any records is not an easy task, its very time consuming. All efforts should be praised! Not complained about. If you find errors in any census records you find online, please take into account what I have said here. Most of all double check the microfilm yourself. As with all records you find online or otherwise. We can't correct the original census records and to correct one online is next to impossible. THANKS AGAIN DEANIE for your hard work, I for one appreciate all your efforts in getting this information to everyone. Census, I have been working on. I received quite a few letters asking about name changes, etc when i done the 1850. Please remember, that transcribing this old census is not a easy job, and I transcribed as the census. But,....I am open for suggestions. The Program I use to enter the info, tells all transcribers to spell names, jobs, etc, as the census taker did on the census. Please take that into consideration, thats all I ask.
