Was there someone on the Monroe County List looking for McGillivray family? This is posted on another list that I am on, I thought I would pass it along in the hopes of helping someone find their family members Debbie Lt Col John McGillivray was prominent in the history of West Florida. As a British officer he led British volunteers in a visit to the defense of Natchez from Mobile I think it was. Also he owned land grants on the Mobile River and in Mobile vicinity. This from memory. If anyone is intrested, this concerns the Mobile area and it's history. It must be emphasized that the McGillivrays were British Loyalist and did what they could to put down the American Revolution. It's leaders they called "Liberty Boys" in contempt. Lots I didn't learn in high school about the Revolution, that maybe I should have. Woodie
