Can anyone tell me anything about Dennards Bluff in Monroe Co.? A lot of people moved there before the 1870 census but apparently moved away before the next one. Even the Geographic Names Information System at USGS can only say it was a 'historic post office" but nothing else. A lot of MIDDLETONs and other moved to Dennards Bluff before 1870. Why? It looks like an area with no major county roads. Timber for steamboats? My great-grandmother and great grandfather died before 1872 so I think they are buried near Dennards Bluff. Polar Bridge Cemetery and Rocky Hill Church appear to be close to where Dennards Bluff was but I can't get any current information. I'm going to be in Alabama in October and I would love to find those places. Thanks, Grant Johnston in Chico, CA
