His wife was Mary Jane Massingill, dau. of John Massingill who had a large plantation at the south end of today's Frisco City. Massingill's home was called Smokey Lonesome, a name that is still used today in reference to the area around Escambia Creek. Mary Jane Stacey sold the land to J.W. Jones in 1887. John Adville Stacey was wounded at Chickamauga in September 1863 and died October 09, 1863 at a field hospital. Sources: December 01, 1860. Adville Stacey purchased from Elba Land Office the W1/2 of NE1/4 and E1/2 of NW1/4 in Section 6, Township 5N, Range 7E, Monroe County, AL. comprising 160.26 acres. Certificate # 24897. Deed cancelled by letter on April 12, 1912 and reissued May 12, 1912 as patent # 263528 because of an error in the name on the first patent. NOTE: This property is the site of Frisco City, AL. November 17, 1888. Monroe County, AL. Deed Book 48, pg. 201. Mary Jane Stacey sold to Reverend J.W. Jones the land in the estate of John Adville Stacey. The witnesses were J.U. Blacksher and A.P. Leigh, Judge of Probate of Escambia County, AL. The town of Jones Mill, AL. was established on this property. In 1913, the town name was changed to Roy and was changed back to Jones Mill in 1919. In 1928, the town name was changed to Frisco City, AL. Filed May 03, 1895.
