    3. I know that my ancestors, the Medlocks were in Perdue Hill in 1840, maybe even 1830. I saw the 1840 census with Moses and Nancy Medlock on it. It seems they and some others moved away from the river in Claiborne because of yellow fever. Moses and Nancy, their infant son, son-in-law and a daughter are buried in the McConnico cemetery there. Most of the other Medlocks are buried in the Mexia Baptist Cemetery, in Mexia, Ala. Perdue Hill, Mexia, Frisco City are all fairly close and I believe the closest large town is Monroeville, AL, home of Harper Lee wrote "To Kill a Mockingbird". The people at the courthouse in Monroeville have always been helpful to me and the Monroe Journal is a good source of info too. Hope this is helpful to you.
