Surnames: Dean Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HU.2ADI/1641 Message Board Post: Descendants from this family elude me in future censuses. I have the great good luck that they were double enumerated, since they tended to have used both their first and middle names and perhaps even nicknames. Also, in some cases the ages match; in others they vary wildly, but in all cases the birth state is the same. Thomas W. Dean Sr. (possible middle initial M.) aged 45/46 shoemaker born GA Obedience aged 35/43! born SC John (R. L. or T.) aged 22 born AL farmer Nathan (T.) aged 18/19 born AL shoemaker Ann/Lucy A. aged 16/13! born AL Morenza/Edmon L. aged 14/11! born AL Martha/Martha E. aged 12/10 born AL Susanah/Christian/Christina aged 10/8 born AL Trustan L./Tristram aged 6 born AL William (L.) aged 2 born AL With the difference in Obedience's age, it is possible that she is or is not the mother of the eldest children; but Nathan T.'s daughter Julia named her first daughter "Obedience" so I believe she was influential in Nathan's life. Nathan died of disease in the Civil War in 1862 so his life was tragically short. The only child in the above family I seem to be able to trace is Edmond Lorenzo Dean, who settled in Bearhouse County, Louisiana, in 1860; by 1860, Nathan had married Martha Ann BARNES in Ashley County, Arkansas and moved to Texas, only to return to Arkansas in 1862 to his death. Any information appreciated! Amy
