Below is the second article about the Williamson family. It is from the "125th Anniversary Edition of the Monroe Journal, Monroeville, Al., dated Nov. 28, 1991, Section 3, Page 31. I have tried to copy the article exactly as it appears in the copy of the edition. Note that in this article the author writes that John Washington "came to Alabama...with HER older half-brothers..." I think HER should read HIS. Freda "WILLIAMSON MOVED TO SIMPKINSVILLE Teacher came from North Carolina around 1850 and was injured in war John Washington Williamson (1829-66) grew up in the Williamson township of Richmond County, N.C. His mother was Clioe Williamson. He came to Alabama around 1850 with her older half-brothers John and Robert Wright and they settled in northeastern Monroe County near Simpkinsville. He was a school teacher and was injured in the War between the States. Williamson married Amanda Maria Soloman of Bow Hill and they had five children: Thomas Charles, Issac Henry, John Cameron, Cloie Frances and Sara Ellen. He died in 1915 at the age of 83 and is buried in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Old Texas. Many of Williamson's descendants settled in Monroe Cunty and south Alabama. Some of them include (sic) are the following: Thomas Charles Williamson (1855-1916) who married Isabella Lucretia Sirmon (1860-84) in 1882. Their son, Byron Bernice Williamson Sr (1883-1954) married Fannie Mae Brooks (1889-1979) in 1909. They had three children: Benjamin Elmore Williamson of Montgomery who married Anne Turner Nancattow in 1934 and had a daughter, Patricia Anne Williamson, who married Thomas E. Johnston Jr. and had two children, Donna Suzzane Johnston and Mary Elizabeth. Benjamin later married Gladys Cunningham Markham in 1946 and had a son William Ross Williamson who died at birth. Minnie Belle Williamson of Jasper, married Charlie Cole and had a daughter, Mary Ann Cole of Tucker, Ga. She married James Bradley Scott and they had three children: Eric Bradley Scott, Amy Claire Scott and Brian Andrew Scott. Byron Bernice Williamson Jr. of Livingston married Mabel Lucile Wesley in 1944. They had five children: Byron Westley Williamson of Livingston, who married Roberta Laurel Stinson and had a daughter, Rhonda Sue Williamson of Livingston, who marrried Billy Parker and they had a daughter, Natasha Laurel Parker; Ray Brooks Williamson of Estill Springs, Tenn., who married Florence Jane Williamson, and had four children: Thomas Charles, James Ray, Charlene Michelle and Jennifer Lee; Sylvia Jean Williamson of Opelika who married Ernest Thomason Whatley in 1971 and had four children: Jenny Land, Curtis Vernon, Bryon Lynch and Capers Thomason; Lucy Kay Williamson of Minter, who married James Douglas Crook in 1982 and have a child, Jefferson Andrew Crook; and Nancy Lynn Williamson of Alpena, Mich., who married Richard H. Everett in 1986 and had no children. Thomas Charles Williamson later married again to Vincie Caroline Boatright in 1885, and had two children: Nora Essie (who did not marry) and Mary Pearl, who married Daniel Casell Garrett in 1911 and had two children. Their son died in infancy and their daughter, Thelma Oleene Garrett of Beatrice married Claude Hardee in 1937 and they had three children: Joel Daniel Hardee of Monroeville, who married Rachel Ann Corey in 1968 and had three children: Melanie Catherine, Rachel Courtney and Claude Justin; Mary Carolyn Hardee of Cusseta married James Smart Collins in 1967 and had three children: Judy Caroleene, James Smart V. and Matthew Daniel; and Philip Carey Hardee, who married Lynn Lovelady in 1981 and have a daughter Caroleene."
