    3. Hi...a researcher asked me to copy the articles on the Williamson families that can be found in the Centennial Edition of the Monroe Journal, Monroeville, Al., dated May 1, 1969. Freda >From The Monroe Journal, Centennial Edition -1866-1969, supplemental edition, May 1, 1969: JOHN WASHINGTON WILLIAMSON ESTABLISHED COUNTY NAME IDENTIFIED IN MANY FAMILIES The John Washington Williamson family of the Old Texas community located in Northeastern part of Monroe County. John Washington Williamson of Williamson County, Virginia, came to Simpkinsville, as a school teacher before 1850. He fought and was injured in the Civil War and died in 1866 at the age of 37. Maria Soloman, of the Bone Hill Community, became Washington Williamson's wife in 1850. She died Nov. 20, 1915 at the age of 83. Her birthdate was Aug. 13, 1832. Thomas Charles Williamson, son of Washington Williamson, was born in Simpkinsville, Nov. 21, 1855. He was a farmer, and carpenter and died at Old Texas, Feb. 9, 1916. Isabella Lucretia Serman was born at Simpkinsville, April 11, 1860 and was married to T. C. Williamson, Dec. 7, 1882. She died April 22, 1884 at the age of 24 years. Her parents were Asbury Sirman and Susan Cynthia Hardee. Susan C. Hardee Sirmon died June 14. 1910 and is buried at Excel. Her father was Joel Hardee, born June 18, 1814, and died Dec. 22, 1897, at the age of 83. Byron Bernice Williamson, Sr., was the son of T. C. Williamson and Isabella Lucretia Sirmon. He was born at Old Texas, Sept., 13, 1883, and died Jan. 28, 1954. He was a merchant and farmer at Old Texas, Monroeville, Frisco City, Midway and Pine Apple. Fannie Mae Brooks was born at Midway, Nov. 24, 1889, and was married to Byron Williamson Jan 2, 19909. She makes her home in Jasper, Ala. They had three children: Benjamin Elmore of Montgomery, Minnie Belle Cole of Jasper, B. B. Jr., of Livingston, seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Thomas C. Williamson's second wife was Vicie Caroline Boatright of Simpkinsville. They were married Oct. 14, 1885. She was the daughter of William and Cynthia Vaughn. They are buried in an Old Texas Cemetery. Caroline died April 10, 1931, and is also buried in the Bethehem Cemetery in Old Texas. To Thomas C. and Callie Boatright, ten children were born: Nora Essie, Mary Pearl, John William, Katie Lois, Maggie Isabella, Lizzie Virginia, Willie Mae, Susie Cynthia, Eunice Matilda, Thomas Franklin. Nora Essie was born Aug 21, 1886. She attended school in Talladega and makes her home with Susie in Old Texas. Mary Pearl was born Sept. 8, 1888. She was married Jan. 22, 1811, to Daniel Casewell Garrett, son of Silas G. Garrett and Margaret Grimes. They had one daughter, Oliene Hardee of Beatrice. Mary Pearl died Aug. 28, 1940. John William was born Nov. 18, 1890. He was a farmer, carpenter and merchant. He married Leona Covan, daughter of Mollie Devaughn and Charlie Covan. They are parents of four children. They have seven grand children, Ruby Calvin of Pensacola: Bernice Williamson of Pensacola, Bishop Williamson of Pensacola; and Thelma Henberger of Pensacola. continued....
