    2. Several days ago I received a notice from the Evergreen Public Library, Conecuh Co. Sherry Johnston <sassyspirit02@yahoo.com> wrote: News Release: The Evergreen Public Library will hosted a book signing for Kathy McCoy, author of the first -ever written history of Monroe County, authored by Kathy McCoy, artistic director at the Monroe County Heritage Museums. It is entitled "Crossroads: The Early Years of Monroe County". "Crossroads" details the county's history from prehistoric times up to the Reconstruction period. The book is divided up into seven chapters, and covers the First Monroe Countians, the Colonial Frontier, Creek Indian War, Federal Road, The Great Migration, War Between the States, and the Winds of Change--Reconstruction The book has many detailed historical maps, and photographs of Monroe County; including the cover art by renowned landscape and wildlife artist, Robert Butler. The author suggests that the book could be used for 9th graders as a companion to their Alabama history. Cost of the book is $20. The Monroeville Journal has copies for sale.
