Hi y'all, My name is Kemis Massey and I am the list administrator of the MASSEY email list through rootsweb, among others. Recently I was contacted by the webmaster of the AHGP Muscogee County (GA) Site with the following message to email the MASSEY list. The local SAR would like to dedicate a marker for Alston S. Massey at his grave in Harris Co., GA and would like to locate any and all descendants to invite them to the ceremony. If interested in further information, please contact Mr. Bob Galer at zebrabob@galer.net. Even though at this time, I haven't found any links between my hubbie Muscogee County MASSEY's and Harris County MASSEY's my mother was from Harris County and I'm the Harris County list administrator. But I contacted Mr. Galer about the ceremony. At this point the ceremony has been postponed because they can't determine exactly where Alston is buried. Further research lead me to the Monroe County Archives (which is why I joined this list) where I found a listing for Aulstin: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/al/monroe/census/1850/indx-i-o.txt and http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/al/monroe/census/1850/pg0012b.txt Both say that Andrew and Wiley were born in GA. I was curious why Alston was buried in Harris County. But after looking at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=leavon&id=I0810#s1 and seeing a MASSEY list subscribers name - I'm assuming that he was related to her Harris County MASSEY's. It also explains why one of the name's in some of the stuff I read was Oliver. Her Harris County MASSEY's married my OLIVER cousins line (3 of my mothers sisters married OLIVER's - I have 17 OLIVER cousins.)
