Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HU.2ADI/1595.2.2 Message Board Post: November 22, 1861. The Claiborne Southerner newspaper. Reprinted August 24, 1911 in The Monroe Journal, Vol. 44. Members of Leslie's Flying Artillery Company mustered into service of the Confederate States Army at Camden, AL. included brothers; William Stacey, G.W. Stacey, and Jesse Stacey. The company was enlisted at Halls Mill, AL. as Sengstak's Battery (2nd Alabama Lt. Artillery Battalion) and commanded by Capt. H.H. Sengstak. May 14, 1863. Monroe County, AL. Marriage Book A, pg. 235. William H. Stacey and Sophronia Ross were married by consent. The ceremony was conducted by John M. Greene, J.P. Security was signed by Mathew Lambert. NOTE: William Henry Stacey died during the Civil War according to Stacey family sources. This is supported by the Ross/Hamilton family descendants. After the deah of William Henry Stacey, Sophronia Ross married Blasingame Hamilton. Her sister, Mary Ann, married Harvey Richard Stacey, brother of William H. Stacey. Harvey is buried at Ridge Cemetery in Monroe County and Mary Ann is buried at Robinsonville Baptist cemetery in Escambia County, AL. Is this the person?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HU.2ADI/1595.2.1 Message Board Post: My Stacey family settled in Alabama in 1830. The first member came in 1810 and the others followed later. The name Sophronia appears in the George Washington Stacey line but the Hamilton name is not connected in my records. This does not mean the name is not connected to the Hamiltons because a family of Hamiltons lived near the Ridge and I am unsure of the marriages of Sophronia. I thought she married a Ross or her maiden name was Ross. This is not my direct line and I am not very familiar with the names of that line. Have you any additional data?

    2. Faye In an earlier Email, you said: My Dean contact has been John Bruce Dean, who now lives in Goodway. He does not do well over the phone, as his hearing is not very good. I expect to see him on October 15, when I go south to Little River State Park (just north of Huxford, AL) for our annual Dreadin Reunion. He has promised me he will try to come, since I have never met him, despite our e-mail correspondence over the years. John B. was born "on the ridge" in Monroe County. I was wondering if Mr. John Bruce Dean was at the last reunion and if you were able to obtain additional information from him? I don't remember if I told you last time but I have a very good photograph of Flossie Mittie Dean, with perhaps Maud her sister, if anyone needs a copy. I believe that it was taken during her teen years. Do you know of any other pictures of this family? I also have photos of her gravestone if anyone is interested. Riley Eddins

    3. Frank Joiner & Annie Brantley were married on 06 June 1888 by J. D. Weatherford - JP at Mt. Pleasant (Monroe County). The record can be found in Book "C", pg. 251, liscense issued 06/02/1888, of the Monroe County marriage records. I. S. Lambert and C. A. Sizemore signed as Surities. I do not know if "Brantley" was her maiden name or if she had been married previously.
