My Hamilton family line landed in Monroe County and migrated after the Civil war to Allen Parish, Louisiana for logging. In the same area in Lousiana, there is a small community called Reaves and it is located with in 10 miles or less of where my family moved. I have confirmed that several Monroe County Families moved together to this location. Perhaps tracing the Reaves line would also lead you there as well.

There are many Fosters I have found during this time; these could be descendents of Elizabeth Foster. My direct ancestor, Richardson Foster, b. 1801 died in 1835 before the date of his mother's will. His only sons, Thomas (1834-1849) and Richardson (1835-1836) did not survive to produce children. By the 1840's the family had moved to Louisiana. Only his daughter, Elizabeth Adeline Foster survived him and married in Keatchie, LA; 2 of her children survived to adulthood. -----Original Message----- From: Kathryrn Weatherford [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, July 18, 2006 8:28 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ALMONROE-L] Elizabeth Foster There is a James D. Kathryn, do you know if there is a list of the folks buried in McConnico? I haven't been able to locate anyone who knows. My G-Grandmother's death certificate from 1910 says she is buried there, but I haven't been able to find her grave. I know there are a bunch that are grown over, caved in and otherwise unidentifiable. I was just wondering if there was a list that quite possibly would at least give the general location of the grave within the cemetary. Her name was Elizabeth Lizzie Lambert Thompson Chaudron. On another note, Kathryn, did you know any of Missouri William and Robert Freemans' descendents? I'm specifically interested in their daugher, Aida's children and on down. Aida was my great grandmother, but I didn't know her or my grandmother, her daughter Essie Taylor - I am always looking for info on those folks. Any Taylors relating back to them. Thanks! Gladys - I have Ethridges The family of Ashby Washington Etheridge and his wife Martha Graves. Ashby was the son of James Etheridge and Effie Ashby - from Cutrrick Co., NC & I'm having a hard time with this line. Believe they are connected to that of Marmaduke Etheridge - just not coming up with any documentation or much information. My Ross line is out of Mecklenburg & Cabarrus Co., NC. Some of this family went to TN while some others went to GA. I've traced my Ross from Humphrey & Perry Co., TN back to Mecklenburg. I think the closest that they came to AL was to catch a train at Gadsden AL on their migration to the Peter's Colony in Young Co., TX - so, the story goes. I have noticed that many of these TN families seem to have come down the Duck River to settle in the North counties of AL - those are Tally, Holland, Moses Kirkland descendents, Montgomery, Carruthers/Carothers, and others. Gladys, I am in Dothan. The family lines that I have in these three counties are: Stabler, Presnall, DeLoach, Daniel, Daniels, Farrington, Hatton, Davis. I have not started on the Farrington, Hatton or Davis lines yet. I have pretty much completed the research on the DeLoach family. Davine has info on the Presnall line. I am finishing up the Stabler line. My grandmother's family came from Henry and Barbour Counties. I am completing them right now. I am going to Barbour County this week to photograph the cemtery markers and the churches that my ancestors started. I don't have any Etheridge line. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HU.2ADI/1639 Message Board Post: HAMILTON AND MCCLURE ANCESTORS This is no doubt a long shot as I have just come into knowledge of a maternal ancestor, Martha HAMILTON, wilth little information to contribute. However, since this is definitely an ancestor, my ggg-grandmother, I will give this information in hopes of finding a connection to other HAMILTONS ancestors. There is a William HAMILTON family, who lived "next door" to the McClure's and possibly the father of Martha HAMILTON. This name is recorded in the 1790 census of Lancaster County, SC, page 25. The same place James McClure, of Augusta Co., VA, moved his family and settled on land known as Little Lynches Creek. Is it possible that the HAMILTON's, friends and neighbors of the McClure's, made the journey from Virginia to South Carolina together? People were always traveling together for protection. And, friends were known to choose land close to each other. Many land owners in Augusta Co., VA moved away from their homes during a major Indian uprising as many of their friends, neighbors, and relatives were being killed. James McClure later returned to his Virginia plantation, after this war was settled, where he died a few years later. Several of his sons had grown up in the South Carolina area, married and chose to stay there with their families. My ancestor, Samuel McClure, one of the sons of James McClure, stayed in South Carolina and fought and died during the 1812 war. One of Samuel McClure's sons, my direct ancestor, Rankin McClure, and his wife Martha HAMILTON, later sold the land he had inherited from his father, and moved to Monroe Co., AL where he died a few years later. Martha HAMILTON, McClure, Rankin McClure's widow, is listed in the 1830 census with their three sons living in the household. Two of the sons names are listed as, James and Eli McClure. Two older sons, William D. and Samuel McClure, were listed as living nearby. Their son, James McClure, is my direct ancestor. The 1830 census is the last listing found for Martha (HAMILTON) McClure, but she appears to be living in the household of son Eli McClure in the 1840 census. This is not a lot of information for HAMILTON researchers, but as previously stated, I do claim the name as part of my ancestry and wish to connect with others who identify with these names. No doubt, like most families, HAMILTON families moved around a lot and can be found in just about every state. Joyce McClure
Hello everyone, To add to Ruth's information on the DANIEL - DANIELS while looking in Georgia you can check in HOUSTON & PULSAKI counties also. My EDWARD DANIEL connects to Simon DANIEL and Owen DANIEL of Edgecombe Co., NC Many of these DANIEL families changed or record keepers changed for them the spelling of the name the added "S" making it hard to keep track of them. Even in current times I have cousins that spell the name DANIELS and not DANIEL. Simon DANIEL and family moved into Sumter county S.C. his children into HOUSTON COUNTY, GA then into Conecuh county Al finally settled in MONROE county 1881 with THOMAS J. DANIEL who married Christiana A. STABLER. Good Luck everyone if I can be of help with the DANIEL/DANIELS feel free to drop me a line.
