    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Grimes, Rightmer, Scroggins, Barnes, Wall Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.alabama.counties.monroe/2878/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am the gdaughter of Vera Grace (Grimes) Morris. She was the youngest of nine children born to Benjamin A. and Elizabeth Lenora (Rightmer)Grimes. The info I have is as follows: Benjamin A. Grimes(b. 2-24-1866, TX d. 11-14-1945, TX) son of Monroe Grimes(b. 11-14-1827, AL d. 6-25-1909, TX) and Sarah A. Sc(r)oggins (b. 11-5-1829, AL d. 6-13-1908, TX) All three are buried in Nacogdoches, TX. Monroe Grimes son of Allen Grimes (b. 12-25-1795, GA d. 8-30-1883, AL) and Elizabeth Barnes (b. 10-24-1800, TN d. 2-1-1875, AL) Allen and Elizabeth are buried in Grimes Cemetery in Monroe, AL. Allen Grimes son of Samuel "Dawson" Grimes(b. 1765, NC d. 5-6-1857, AL) and Darcall Wall (b.1765, NC d. 1850. AL) There are a great many siblings, however, I don't know if I have placed the right person with the right families. I have found all of the above mentioned men on various census reports, but not all of the reports mention the family members. I have yet to find a census report with Monroe Grimes living in the Allen Grimes household, unless Monroe went by another name. I don't know his full name. I'm also trying to find out who the father of Dawson Grimes was and where Dawson and Darcass are buried. Because families were rather large back in the day and because children were always named after another relative, it all becomes a bit confusing for me. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I live in Montgomery,TX and will gladly help anyone with info or photos that can be gathered in surrounding towns. There are alot of towns I can cover. I also have photos of Grimes headstones in Nacogdoches/Douglass,TX. I also have the book "Nacogdoches County Families" which is a w! onderful book full of family histories and photos from Nacogdoches,TX. Thanks so much.

I am related to the Hurrys through Mary "Polly", who married John Wiggins, son of Elijah Daniel (brother of James Thompson W.) and Mary Anne Lock Wiggins. She was a Hathcock before marriage. Her dad was Roy Hathcock and her mom was Leona Stabler. I would still love to know any information that you might have on your Great-Grandmother's side of the family and if you have any photos you would be willing to share? Thanks so much. The reason I say L or J is that I have found muster rolls that are for the same person with different middle initials. Or so it seems as far as the National Archives goes. Since my grandfather was called Docke by most of the folks that knew him including his slaves I started going thru the obits of the Monroe Journal. In 1884 their is a an obit for W.L or W.J. Docke with an * by it deliniating a difference regarding the last name. The article lists the burial area for Docke as being near Evergreen and his age being 54. I also found a William Robinson with S H Dailey;s Co. Militia. The 36th Alabama Volunteers also interested me since there were Griffin and McKinley who I am also related to. Any information that you can point me towards regarding my GG Grandfather William Andrew Griffin (B. 20 Aug 1846 D. 27 Nov. 1920 Spring Hill Cemetery)or William Littleton Robinson or W. J Robinson (b. abt. 1833 d. abt. 1883) families would be greatly appreciated.
