Hello Debbie, Can you look for a Francisco (Cisco) Blackburn or a Hamp Blackburn in Monroe County for me? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I know the 1966 Centennial Monroe Journal and the 1969 supplement were not indexed by The Monroe Journal. Has an outside organization ever prepared an index?

So much has been coming in on my families this past week, I haven't kept up with my replies. Forgive me if this is a repeat. I don't have any info about the Bonner family except that Elizabeth Bonner married William Roberson. Rebeccar McKenzie and Henry made be related. My Roberson family goes like this: William (1780-1870)married Elizabeth Bonner and they were from S. Carolina. I know they had one son, Tye Roberson (1817-1842) who married Mary (Polly) Sills, daughter of Clement and Elizabeth Manning Sills. Tye and Polly had one son before Tye died at the age of 25, Alfred Bennett Roberson, born 1839. Alfred first married Mary Elizabeth Canterbury, Redding Canterbury's daughter. Alfred and ME lived in Pineapple at one time. They had two sons, William and Hillard. Hillard died as a child. Mary Elizabeth died shortly after Alfred returned home from the Civil War in 1868. Alfred soon married Mary Alice Wright, daughter of John and Eliz Ann Solomon Wright. The Wrights lived in Old Texas. Alfred and Mary Alice had a large family...five girls and then five boys, and lived in Excel, Al. I am searching for info about the William and Elizabeth's children. I feel that they must have had more than one child. Also, I am trying to learn Clement and Polly's parents' names.I have a good bit of info on the Wrights and some on the Solomons. Since Tye named his son Alfred Bennett and Alfred Bennett named his son John Bennett, I think there may be a Bennett family, too. What "book index" are you referring to? Marriage? I would be grateful for any info you can send me. Thank you. Freda Freda and Ted Noble tnoble@mcn.org
Kay: They may have lived near Claiborne, at least at first. One source says that Henry was a sheepherder, so whatever area of the county that was conducive to that could be a second place to look. Thanks! Kathryn
Good morning...we just received the following note from Glenda Price of the Monroe Journal, Monroeville, Al. Okay I phoned the Monroe paper again today. Trying to get all of this straight. This is what they told me. A paper ( over sized ) was out that has articles in it from about 1866 to 1966. Covering 100 years. The cost of this paper is 5 dollars A paper ( over sized ) 1866 to present day "about" is more along the lines of family research. The articles covers Families of Monroe County in the Early days of the County. The cost of this paper is 7 dollars. A BOOK is coming out NEXT month - The hardback book will be nothing but Photo's and captions. Of Monroe County Area, just photos but a nice hardback book. The cost of this will be 20 dollars. All three have a postage or shipping cost of 5 dollars. I have now ordered the first two items and next month will order the book. However like everything we order, we have to wait until it gets to us before we know just whats in something. I hope this helps everyone Debbie
Kay: Are any TAYLORs or KELLYs mentioned in the Monroe papers about which several of you are talking? Kathryn

Hello everyone, I called yesterday and did order my paper. They charged it to my credit card and the cost was $5.00 ( five dollars ) for the paper and $5.00 ( five dollars ) for mailing it to me. Total $10.00 I should get it within a couple of days. Let me get it and see what all in there, if its something I might be able to post or do look ups with. I will be glad to help. Just don't know what all they have added to this paper. But the cost was 10.00 dollars Debbie
Hi...thank you! You saved me some phone calls! I have the 1866-1966 edition and it is FILLED with good stuff. I didn't know the second edition was available for purchase. Now, thanks to your efforts, I can order a copy. The book that is coming out, according to a writer on the MJ's page, is a book celebrating the centennial of Monroeville....should be fun to see. Appreciate your writing all the info for all of us. Freda Researching Roberson, Wright, Sills, Regan, Sims, Bonner, Godbold, Manning, Solomon Freda and Ted Noble tnoble@mcn.org
Debbie, which paper did you order? There were two Centennial Issues...1966 and another. Also, the MJ is publishing a centennial edition for Monroeville which will be 25.00 plus postage and is due out in July. Freda >Hello everyone, > >I called yesterday and did order my paper. I know I am asking for trouble here. BUT, its been brought to my attn. That Monroe County does not have census records on microfilm. "sigh" We in Foley do, shaking my head I know I am asking for trouble. So, if you need a census lookup for MONROE COUNTY, in the years of 1900 and 1910. Send me your request, I will do what I can to find them for you. I will email you back the information. PLEASE, understand I will not do a look for ALL Smith's, I need a family to look for, not a general Surname search. Also, please understand that I can only do this two days a week so you might have a few days to wait. I will do what I can to help others. Debbie
Hello everyone, Slap my hand I have not done this yet and was hoping if anyone goes to check the 1920 Census records for Monroe in the next fews days. PLEASE help get me out of a family WAR. There should be one group of our Harris family listed. If you happen to see them please get the dates of birth for me. I have an Aunt and my Grandmothers sister that "fight" ( just play fight ) about who is OLDEST. So if you find them let me know, I will try to check here in Foley if they still have the mircofilm. The HARRIS FAMILY in question is William Henry HARRIS Elmyra - wife Berson Buster Clevland Lizzie Lillie Mae 1902 Rufus Marshall 1923 Maze Not all these children will be listed of course, Marshall was b 1923, Lillie Mae was married,. Just looking for the William Henry Harris and Elmyra household in 1920 Thanks in Advance for the help!!! Debbie
