    2. Lyndall Maxwell
    3. Hi Deanie. Thanks for all you do. Do you have any MAXWELLS in those Bible records? Do you need first names? James, Joseph, Elizabeth, Thomas, William, David. How about RUMPH, Jacob, etc. and BOLTON-James, Emily. ALSO who would know more about those buried at the Baptist Church in Tunnel Springs? I have a list from the Heritage and Museum Society in a special Tunnel Springs issue, but it shows that the stone of Susan Maxwell is broken and shows only born 1824. I haven't found her in the Monroe Co. Census. Thanks. - ------------------------------------------------------ <lmaxwell@hd.co.harris.tx.us> 07/21/99 13:56:38

    1. [ALMONROE-L] CRAWFORD, John b 1746, SC
    2. Monroe Co CRAWFORD researchers/genealogists, Below I have copied the family line from the online Ancestral file for John CRAWFORD b 1746, SC, son of James(John) CRAWFORD b 1725 SC. Hopefully, this will picture the ancestors of Mahalaleel CRAWFORD, for whom I have been searching in Monroe Co, AL. Maybe some of you are searching for another CRAWFORD from this family tree. I understand there was a Dr James Crawford and another brother who migrated to AL, whether Monroe or not do not know. As it turns out there were 2 different Hal CRAWFORDs, given name "Hal" might have been a nickname for Mahalaleel. Found an M. CRAWFORD in the 1840 Monroe Co, AL, census, as well as land owned by Mahalaleel. Mahalaleel moved to Walton Co, FL, & was found in 1850 & 1860 FL census. Would appreciate any help anyone can give me regarding this family or any suggestions for finding more information. 3. Looking for marriage entry for my grandparents. Ann Ellen BAKER m. William Curtis CANNON in 1923, I believe in Monroe County. She was 15 and he was 19. My grandmother told me she lived with her in-laws in Franklin, AL after the marriage. William died in 1927 at age 23 when my father was an infant. I know nothing about him. Would like to know the names of his parents so that I can trace his family back. I'm told his father's name was Watt, can find no listings on him, might be a nickname. I would appreciate any help in cracking this mystery. Kathy Campo Orlando, FL

    1. [ALMONROE-L] GILL, John M.
    2. Margie D. Jackson
    3. John Marshall GILL b. abt 1805 in SC. Baptized in Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church, Chester, SC on 13 Sep 1806. Notations seem to indicate he was the son of John who was son of Robert. These same notations are listed with baptism on 29 May 1803 of Thomas *Wallis GILL, and on 19 May 1805 of Eleanor Downing GILL. (*Wallis spelling has been used throughout the records for family identified as WALLACE.) My gg grandfather, John M. Gill, who I believe to be the John Marshall mentioned above m. Margaret Clemenza WALLACE abt 1831. Five children were born to them in Monroe Co., AL bet. 11 Jan 1832 and Aug 1847. The family was in Leake Co., MS by 1850 where 2 more children were born. There are a lot of Fishing Creek GILLs but none that I've found fits age and migration pattern. They have strong association with WALLACE, MARION, WALKER, families from SC to MS and with WIGGINS from AL. Does anyone know this John GILL?

    3. Does anyone know who Susan Maxwell is? She is buried in the Baptist Church Cemetary at Tunnel Springs. She may be his mother but I would like to be sure. Thanks. - ------------------------------------------------------ <lmaxwell@hd.co.harris.tx.us> 07/14/99 08:07:31

    1. [ALMONROE-L] Bohannon and Mckinley
    2. In Monroe Co, David Bohannon married Mary Mckinley in 1838, and in 1842 David H. Bohannon, married Lucinda Mckinley. (I do not have my notes in front of me, so the "h" could be with the first marriage.) But, what I am trying to find out, are the two David's the same, and if so where the Mckinley women sisters. Anyone know? I have the Bohannon line almost figured out. Seems like Alexander Bohannon, and family migrated from TN. In March 1808 it was recorded that “it being made appear to the Church that Brother Alexander Bohannon had been gilty of Drinkin two much speritous Liquor, Swearing, and Quarrelling, for which the Church Lays him under censure til our next meating in course.” In April 1808 “Brother Bohannon came forward and confest his Sin and sorrows for the same and the Church forgave him.” In February 1811, “Brother Alleck Bohannon and his wife requests a letter of creadence which is granted.” (this was sent to me by a fellow researcher, who descends from Alex's Uncle William Bohannon) Parents were: Henry Bohannon, Jr and Susanna Fretwell. Henry's parents were: Henry and Ann Booten. Have more of the siblings of Alex if anyone is interested. Can anyone help me solve the mystery of David and the Mckinley women? thanks

    1. [ALMONROE-L] Mary (Mace) CRAWFORD, b 1802 SC; d Monroe Co, AL?
    2. List members, So good to see so many postings to the ALMONROE newsletter. Now, I feel someone will be able to help me with my brick wall. Have already had one assist from B'nard of Butler Co. Know there are many others subscribing. Does anyone have access to Monroe Co cemetery lists? Mary's husband, Mahalaleel CRAWFORD, & family moved from Marion Co, SC to Monroe in the early 1830s. There were one, if not 2 children, b there before her death--William b 1834 in AL. Known other children living with this family were Willis, b 1825 SC (marr Rebecca Murray 1846 Monroe Co, AL), Ann b 1827 SC (marr James Edward Lindsey of Monroe Co?), John b 1832 NC, Wm b 1834, AL, as noted. It's possible there were other children born during this period from around 1832 - 1836/37, who might not have survived. Would appreciate any help or suggestions about finding more about this family. Mahalaleel CRAWFORD, was my g-g-grandfather. Thanks for your input, Winkie CRAWFORD R WinkieFL@aol.com
