Notes for SAMUEL STABLER: Baptised 4 June 1837, parents: Lewis and Polly Stabler per records of Sandy Run Lutheren Church. Since George Lewis was known as George in most references and his wife was Mary, it is may be that this Lewis was the son of Fredrick, although I would have expected him to be a member of St. Mathews Luthern Church. Important note: the 1850 SC census, Lexington County item 1242 indicates that (George) Lewis & Mary Stabler had a 14 year old son named Samuel. This matches the Baptismal record date; therefore, the church record of Lewis and Polly apparently referred to this Lewis. Polly may have been a nickname or a mistaken entry by minister. vi. SARAH SOPHRANIA STABLER, b. 1839; d. WFT Est. 1840-1933. 9. DAVID4 STABLER (FREDRICK3, GOTTLIEB2, CHRISTIAN1) was born Abt. 1795 in Orangeburg Co., SC9, and died WFT Est. 1844-1887. I have updated my home page with Dailey's Malitia -- Home Guard from Monroe Co. Ala. along with all of the Middletons listed in the ADAH's "Confederate Service Record" microfilm. Seeing that your grandfathers and uncles were in their mid-teens or late 50's and going to join the Home Guard -- and most of them without even a gun -- makes much of the daily complaints plain for the petty things that they are. Deanie, How difficult would it be to correct a transcription error in the 1850 census? You are to be commended for even attempting to transcribe these. It is really a tremendous undertaking. If you need the page number, I'll check. The problem is that my family has been divided into two. Joel Anderson - my gr-gr-grandfather Jane Nancy A. Manning Anderson - my gr-grandfather He and the other children are listed with surname Manning. Sorry to be a nit-picker, but someone else may be looking for this family. TIA Mary Alice Thomas
Will the 1890 or 1900 census be transcribed, or is it already available? -----Original Message----- From: KaUzGr@aol.com [mailto:KaUzGr@aol.com] Sent: Sunday, August 15, 1999 8:36 PM To: ALMONROE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ALMONROE-L] Check out FTP directory /pub/census/al/monroe/1850/ at ftp.... After its been put on the web, It can't be corrected. Sorry! this is how they are listed on the actual census, and I transcribed it the way it was written: Joel Anderson Jane Nancy A. Manning Jessia Unnamed Inf. What the census taker should have done, was put a ditto mark after each first name to show the last name was Anderson, not Manning. Deanie
I am transcribing the 1860 right now, and later on will do the other yrs. 1860 Should be online by the end of September, this all depends on the machine at the Library in Mobile. So keep you fingers crossed, hopefully the machine will be fixed so I can copy the complete page. Deanie
